How to safely use pesticide around chickens?

I would love some input on this as well. We have small and large ants everywhere. So far the chickens are not eating many of them (they are still young) and I worry that they will get into the coop and harm them. I have tried cornmeal and vinegar and baking soda and boiling water. Nothing works. The ants still manage to survive and keep coming back!! :( I have not tried DE yet, but if that doesn't work I may have to call my local pest control guy...just wondering what sprays are safe around chickens and gardens...
I just made a appointment for orkin to come and take care of ants and spiders and i have chickens that free range and cats in the house the chickens just need to stay in there coop for the amount of time the orkin people tell you then they can go back out and it's also safe for the cats in the house . The orkin crew does inside stuff and outside stuff
