How to Sell Ducklings

Start with your Secretary of State, your Division of Consumer Protection, and your Division of Agriculture. Check your state laws. Do you need a Permit? What are your local (County, City) Regulations??? Does the local College have anything useful to say?

What are your costs (birds, feed, etc?) How much are your competitors charging? Shipping expenses?? Signage?

You have a LOT of research to do first. Then you can decide if what you are imagining is worthwhile to do legally, or is just a fantasy.
Ok, I will look at them all.

I'll look into that.

I know, I like hard work! :) I just wanted to know what work I needed to do so I could get started!

Thank you!

i just went thru this myself in FL. 6 mo of research, off and on, before I made the leap. I hope to break even with shell eggs until my breed project has a marketable product.

I will NOT advise you on calling mixed breeds anything other than mixed breeds - which I consider deceptive and unethical - until and unless you have a reliable, consistent, and accurate term for the offspring.

My breed project, for example, is seeking to create a meaty dual purpose bird well suited to free ranging on the local soils, the "clay ranger". At some point, I'll register that as a sales mark or trademark. I'm using it publicly now, to offer some protection - but until my flock has bred enough generations to have consistent offspring, its not a landrace, much less a breed, and can't be described or sold as the "clay ranger" birds I hope to eventually produce for local sale.
