how to sex 3 week old chicks

ok i hatched some chicks in my incubator and would love to be able to sex them so i dont know the mothers breeds because they are mixed breeds but the father was a barred plymouth rock

There is no for sure way at this age. But you can look for some hints.

Some signs to look for:
-Sometimes males start getting comb development at this age.
-Combs on males may start turning a pink-red color and grow larger. (females combs wont get red or large until closer to laying age).
-Males tend to feather out slower than females.


You can also start a thread and post pictures in the "What breed or gender is this" section of the forum, and somebody may be able to give you some guesses.
