How to sex several week old chicks?

I was wondering how people look at the pictures and determine the sex. specificaly what criteria do they use. I'm sick of posting pics of my chicks and i would like to know how to do it my self.

Two of the easiest ways are if there are spurs developing and hackle feathers are pointed. That's a male.

I don't want to sound stupid but whats a hackle feather

Hackles are the feathers around the base of the neck. They are the ones that stick out when males fight.

I call hackle feathers the "pointier" feathers at the neck and base of tail.

at what age can you expect to start seeing spurs

You'll probably notice the hackle feathers before the spurs starting. It's been a while since I've had babies.
