I am going to look at some ee's tomorrow. But I only want hens. These hatched on July 6th. would I be able to tell the sex.

Any help would be great.

Possibly the males would be getting pink combs, but it is really early for that to be certain. They are really hard to sex when they are young.

Good luck!

Thank You shelly, that helps a little. will try to not pick any with comb developement.

Thanks for your help

I doubt you will be able to tell. I have a bunch of EEs hatched at the end of June and am still only guessing.

Honestly, EEs are one of the most difficult to sex... ESPECIALLY so young, I'd say it's next to impossible. One of my EE hens had a pink raised comb very early and one of my other's didn't get a comb until she was 12 weeks.

I just drove to Meyers hatchery and picked up 9 2week old EE pullets for $2.00 ea. The lady said she was tired of them flying out of the box. So she gave me a deal on them. They are 90% positive on sexing they said.

Now I got my free ranger and didn't have to pay $4.00 a chick for unsexed.
