how to show I'm NOT a threat :(

Try hand feeding them.  Stop putting their food in a feeder or spreading in the grass, make them come to you for food.  I sit on a small stool and let them walk to the food in my extended hand.  It takes even longer with strangers.  They tend to run away if I walk towards them with food in my hand.

My male has lost the shyness he had a few months ago.  The female will eat from my hand, but otherwise keeps her distance.  My male will nip as well, but I think he just wants my attention.  I think they are just used to seeing me around by now and feeding them everyday. Also, quick movements spook them, so approach them slowly and take your time.  I've noticed that ducks have different personalities as well.  My male is social and curious, the female not so much so.  (My wife swears the female spends her time nagging the male)

ok so I got home this evening and went to give them a little snack. Stanley came up and nibbled from my hands (stella hasn't hand fed since she was a duckling) anyway Stanley had a little nibble but then walked away and when I got up to walk inside he came charging at my legs. Any one have any ideas?

Some drakes think mating season is from October through September.
That is so true!

I wouldn't turn my back on him and if he charged, would stand my ground or pick him up. Be sure to wear long pants or boots around him. It might help if he had a couple more girls, but that doesn't always cure that behavior.

Yea I have noticed if I wear thongs or shorts he goes crazy at my toes. If I was to get another girl do you think the previous girl will get jealous though?
