I think you are both right but I didn't want to change it until this hatch is over. Its going to be about $27 for a replacement for the electronic therm plus shipping. but I don't want to mess with this one anymore. with a new thermostat it will work as a hatcher but I need a bator that doesn't need so much fussing
maybe I am just lazy.
my dad said as long as it comes with a schematic (sp?) that he will be able to replace it for me. my dad is the father of all jimmy riggers
I've ordered a lyon tx-6 and hopefully will receive it this week.
today is day 20. believe it or not, I actually have one pipping. after being practically burned to a crisp at 109 and 106 degrees this little one must be stubborn as all get out !
since moving it into my oven I have been able to keep a stable 99.5 give or take only about .2 degrees. since I never use my oven except to store pots and pans in this isn't that bad but I still plan on ordering a new thermostat this week for this one. even as a brooder I don't want it killing them with a spike.
well, in all 3 hatched. I still have eggs in the bator unpipped. not sure whether to try pipping or candling or not.
I'm wondering if the 3 that made it were on the outside in cooler temps but I had pretty much put all of them in the middle.
I think I better get a new thermometer/hygrometer just in case before I try hatching again. hopefully the lyon will be better. shoot, with this hatch I missed all the fun since I had to put it in the oven with the door shut. even now I'm keeping it in there until they are ready to move to the brooder.
