My male Welsh Harlequin is one year old, and we have six chickens. He used to get along with them fine, but ever since my female Welsh went broody and hatched out nine babies he's been mean. Not just to the chickens, but to her and the babies. We have the momma duck and babies in a kennel and let them out, supervised, with the male then put in the kennel, because the first day she got of her nest he picked one up and shook it by the neck. I'm thankful I was there for that because I'm not sure how many more he would've hurt, or maybe even killed. So, momma and ducklings like I said are in a kennel. Sometimes when she flies of into the yard and leaves the babies under a bush I let him out so they can have some time, she's not been around him for a month and a half because of the broodiness, but 9 out of 10 times he grabs her by the neck and tries to breed her again, she very much expresses her dislike to this so I have to put him back up. He does the same to the chickens when they're out and I know he can hurt them. He's a very sweet duck most of the time, he was our first one and we love him dearly, so we would never get rid of him; but it's upsetting to see him act this way...I know it's a long shot, but is there anything we could do to stop this behavior?
