how to STOP ducks from laying eggs?

Are your sweethearts sick, or are you just afraid they'll become sick from the tax on their bodies from continuous egg production?
they are fine right now, just worried about her laying eggs for so long. it’s been almost a year and a half straight now with eggs everyday

one of the many reasons i’ll probably only ever adopt drakes again, i love my girls but wouldn’t get anymore

I completely understand. After my girls pass away I will also only get drakes, if I adopt more ducks. The reproductive issues have been heartbreaking. I don't eat eggs either, so drakes might work great for me.

Since your girls aren't experiencing any issues I'm not sure I'd risk the potential nutritional consequences. My girl did have weight loss with the diet - but it was that or death so we made the choice to underfeed her nutrition deficient food.

I'm not judging you at all for keeping your ducks inside, if you do, I think I've read that before. But if your girls don't have a natural daylight schedule I think that might be what is contributing to their egg laying most of all - and it will be really hard to provide that inside. Even if you have a dark room inside the rest of the household would have to be quiet - no TV, ect after dark. Maybe you could keep them inside during the day and put them outside at night in a secure coop? If it is cold out you can consider a sweeter heater, they are supposed to be safe. I bought one for my older ducks who have a harder time staying warm. Just an idea. <3

we’ve actually turned our entire sunroom into their bedroom lol, and their nighttime playpens are in that room. so no noise after they go to bed and they have (mostly) natural light from all of the windows, i hardly ever turn on a light in there after the sun sets for the night because i thought light was the problem at first too

Unfortunately they've been bred to be egg machines, so sometimes the drive to reproduce is just really intense. It was like that for my dark khaki. Eventually she started taking every other day off in the winter. Then a month off in the winter.

It sounds like you are doing everything right. <3 I hope she stops laying soon.
