So every morning from about April to September of last year, my chickens would do this loud horrible squawking sound every time one of them laid an egg. 5 minutes they would be super loud, and for 3 of them laying about 15 minutes a day. Because spring is coming up, is there any way I can make these birds stop their squawking??

The short answer - nope. Some have louder egg songs than others.

I also don't find the egg song to be overly melodious, but I do try to think of them as singing, "I laid laid an EGG! I laid laid an EGG!" If I go outside, they will stop and run over, so it's also a hood excuse to go out to get the egg and hang out with them for a bit.

Maybe. Mine did (well not completely stop but way decreased) It might be just coincidence, I can't tell because these are my first chickens but I read this https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/the-egg-song-it’s-not-about-the-egg-it’s-an-escort-call.74386/

And I know chickens sometimes see people as their rooster. So, I "escorted" them when they did their egg song. Obviously not every time, but fairly often for a while, and tried to communicate that a little egg song is a good thing.

It seems to have worked. They do still an egg song but nothing like they did for awhile - in volume or duration.

I've also read on here about other people's chickens that were very loud as they started laying but mellowed with age... without any intervention.

I have 4 of 7 that do the egg song, and of those 4, 2 have gotten quieter. It could be a breed thing?! (I am no expert) my Brahmas and Barred Rock sing, my Polish and Leghorn do not

Hens are gonna do their thing. Thankfully mine don't do an egg song while laying. Unfortunately the girls all scream when it's another hen laying instead of them!
I have the same thing, one will be laying and the other two start screaming. When the laying one is done she screams too and switches places with another one that needs to lay and they switch roles

Thanks for the link and info, I’ll try it out when they really start up again. This will be their second laying season so hopefully that’s old enough for them to calm the hell down 😂
