A old Dutch man tells me I'm crazy to clean and refrigerate my fresh layed eggs? He claims there best stored above the fridge for up to 2 months, is this true?

I don't know if it's best or not but sure is easy to have an egg basket on self they are stored in. No need making egg space in fridge or wash them.

Eggs have what's called a bloom that protects it from bacteria. If you wash your eggs they need to be fridgerated. If you don't wash they can be stored at room temp. And yes, they will last for months on your counter. When I'm getting inundated with eggs I usually hard boil everything excepting the freshest dozen to keep up. The kids readily snack on boiled eggs here even when sick of eggs on toast or scrambled.
