I have 9 bantam hens and 10 standard pullets laying along with 4 muscovy ducks. I can't store the eggs on the counter for a few reasons and I'm getting fed up with the egg cartons.

I usually run out of space for the load of eggs I'm getting. The plastic refrigerator cartons also seem to not be big enough, I think my duck eggs wouldn't fit in one either.

I would like something that would hold a large amount of eggs, preferably that could be a 'first in first out' system. Is there any products like this? Not necessarily for eggs but could be used for them? Or something DIY?

Thanks guys! I think I got a great variety of egg colors. I do give away some of the eggs, I also like to give some back to my flock. They love scrambled eggs! I'd like to sell some eggs but I have no idea how to start doing it. I like the thought of the girls paying for their feed! Only a few family members and friends get the eggs, they keep the egg numbers down.

What breeds lay eggs three, eight, and ten?? I’ve been dying to add some color to my cartons and those are GORGEOUS! As for storage; if you’re okay with them being unrefrigerated for a while and have the space off to the side or out of the way, you might look into large egg flats. I know once this years’ pullets start laying I’m certainly going to need some of those myself. The cartons get in the way VERY fast I’ve noticed, and it gets old trying to deal with them

I read an article earlier this week that said something about packing them in salt; said they'd stay good for 8+ months. Not sure if that's a wives tale or not... something called waterglassing was also mentioned in the article, but that technique required stuff that I cannot get in this country, but the salt method sounded interesting enough that I might give it a try. Not sure if long term storage like this would suit your needs.

My girls are mix breeds. They could be any mix of Speckled Sussex, BBS Copper Marans, Ameraucanas, Olive Eggers, EEs, Leghorns, Red Sexlink and Salmon Faverolles. Any colored eggs would come from a Americana or EE mix.

I believe this is one of the girls who lay blue eggs.

I plan on freezing some eggs soon for when the flood gates close.

For now you could also make potato or egg salad's not that it's warming up and you can start barbecuing again. Free some for later when they slow down or stop laying when they go into molt. I've been hatching some of mine, selling other's and if I still have some left, I feed them back to the flock.
