how to tell hen from rooster

I am new at raising chickens i have 5 bantam chicks at about 4 and ahalf months old i would like to know how to tell a hen from a rooster if anyone can help thanks

Molly, welcome to the forum.
Is it possible for you to post pics of your chicks? At four and a half months old we shouldn't have any trouble helping you out.
Otherwise, look for a pinker/redder comb on the roos, the tail feathers will be more pointed than wide, and the legs on a roo will be longer and sturdier looking. Depending on the breed, there will color differences as well.
