I have been getting eggs from very healthy chickens. RIR, thick shells. when I candle before hatch, viable chicks. however when it comes to hatch, I should have a higher percentage at hatch. How do I check to see if the eggs pipped internally, to assist with hatching?

If you hear chirping it has internally pipped.

Candle it you should be able to see beak in the aircell.

If it's only internally pipped it still has some yolk and vein absorbing to do.

Could be 24 hours or more from internal to external pip and zip.

I only try to assist after its externally pipped and started to zip and I see an issue. Dried membrane, stuck in zip, or pipped wrong end.

It's your choice but I never assist off an internal pip.

Good luck
