How to tell if egg is still viable?

I've got 2 hens that are broody, one mama has hatched out 4 chicks, while the other is still sitting. There was a bit of nest juggling on their part in the beginning, but according to my best guess, the eggs should have hatched by now. I've candled the eggs, and they all look to have something in them that should be relatively far along. Is there a way to tell if the chick inside is still developing and alive? They don't smell, but they should have hatched by now! Any suggestions?

Thanks!

The only thing I can think of is to candle them and see if you see any movement. Hope they hatch for you!!
