I just got my first shipped eggs, and after reading a different thread, I realize that I have no idea what detached air cells are, or what they look like,or what problems they cause at hatching. Someone please educate me!

When you candle eggs with detached air cell you will see a floating air bubble as you rotate the egg. In some cases the eggs will still develop and hatch so go ahead and set them and hope for the best.

My shipped eggs are porous, so I cant really see anything inside them at all:( They only came from 120 miles away, and 1 day in the mail.

I could never tell right off the bat if my eggs had bad air cells. Some people claim they can tho. Not me. Let the eggs rest for atleast 6 hours and then set them in the bator, porous eggs can and do hatch. By day 7 you will be able to see if the air cells are scrambed and be able to tell veining and embryo. My thoughts!

Candled last night....All 12 have Detached Air Cells, but 11 are still developing normal. I wonder how hectic Hatch Day is gonna be?

When I first got them, I could barely tell they were detached, I saw that the air bubble would move if I turned the egg sideways so I knew there was something wrong. I waited to candle till day 7 and the exact shape it very obvious.I havent tipped em on there sides at all. Incubating in an auto turner big end up. I keep the the same position when candling, I put the light on top of egg pointing downward to see the air cell shape. Probably would have been obvious around day 3 or so,but thats just a guess.
