How to Tell Light Sussex from Light Sussex Split Coronation Chickens

How soon can you tell that they are Coronations? When they are a couple of weeks old and get some of their neck feathers or earlier?

Also are the splits neck a lighter color of black or do they look just like a light sussex?

Most often you will have to wait until they get their neck feathers to tell coronation from light. Light chicks and split chicks will look the same. There is no way to tell which carry lav until you do a test breeding.
