I noticed today that one of my older EEs has some sort of growth in both corners of her mouth. They look kind of like pus. I couldn't get a picture as I'm the only one home tonight but will have my husband help me tomorrow. From my research, canker is spread through wide infected birds drinking from their waterer. That's not possible with my run set up and they haven't free ranged since this whole avian flu started. I didn't notice a smell at al when I was trying to get a look in her mouth and was pretty close. I know a picture will help and I promise to get one tomorrow but is there a way to tel a difference. My flock did have dry pox before,I believe last spring.

Ok,so I checked on her this morning. I think it my be canker. It has a smell to it, not horrible but a smell. I may have caught it super early. I'm giving this medicine. Do I give one pack a day? Or 2? Also, what's the easiest way to give it. It's a powder so I mix it with water but thats been a pain to give.

So, I'm still not 100% sure it's canker but for now am treating it as such. After the first dose of meds a lesion on 1 side completely went away. The 1 on the other side is much smaller now. I've been mixing the powder with some water and sucking it into a needless Syringe to give it to her. I notice when I get it on the lesion, it bubbles like crazy, kind of like peroxide would with a cut. So guessing some sort of infection? If it is canker,I'm 100% clueless on how she got it. Like I said above, my birds don't free range and nothing gets into the run. I made sure of that when I thought I had an MG infected flock and then with avian flu happening I've been extra careful. I've disinfected the waterers and haven't noticed anything else on my other girls. This poor girls is not happy about being isolated though. I feel so bad for her but we are getting close to putting her back with the flock.
