how to train a chicken to be a show bird

hey I'm getting road island reds i was wondering how to train them to be show birds

For my ducks one of them was just a natural, find which one is best suited, or if you want you can train all of them. After I decided which one to show, I got a table and put a towel on it (to catch the poop) and then held him how he should stand and calmed him down so he wouldn't be noisy. After he was used to that I started having people he didn't know come and pet him and pretend to examine him. I did it almost every day from the time he was 2 weeks old. He's a perfect show bird now, if nothing else, it takes patience. Good Luck!
 
In addition to getting them used to being handled you want them to be alert and interested in what is going on around them. For this to be realized they need to be interested in food so do not overfeed birds in show pen. Roosters and hens also need to be feeling good and have high social status. This promotes proper display of type. Feather quality can be maintained more easily if birds are confined singly. Also keep them out of direct sun to slow blanching of feather pigments.
