My dad said he is letting the chickens out tomorrow and said that he doesn't care if the chickens are killed because, "Putting them in a pen is abusive". Mocha my husky puppy has a high prey drive and the only time they were together she almost killed one. My parents are not letting me rehome or build a pen. Please help! I love them so much and they are family to me.

If you are home, you could put a leash on the puppy and tie the other end of the leash to your belt. That keeps the puppy close to you, so you can tell what puppy is doing, and intervene if needed.

I'm going to school tomorrow and I know my familly won't do this or forget to. I could try today but I don't trust my family to remember to let her out not leashed.

Leashing the puppy, or separation with fencing, are useful for controlling the puppy while it matures and gets trained. But I don't have any good ideas for quickly training the puppy to leave chickens alone.

Hmm, maybe let the chickens out but lock the puppy in the chicken pen instead?

I've read anecdotes of puppies that got pecked by a broody hen and left chickens alone forever after-- but I'm not sure I believe most of those stories!

Sorry but sweet and intelligent as they are Huskies have a high prey drive and aren't safe around prey animals. I'm not sure sure what you got first (the chickens or the dog) but one of them needs to go before your chickens are killed. Huskies will usually eat what they kill unlike other dogs. (Not all Huskies eat their prey) I raised one from a pup but wasn't able to train him not to kill prey animals or cats so I rehomed him .
