Hi .. I am new here and would love some advice on hatching eggs using incubator that requires eggs to sit upright .. Decided to hatch some ducks after request from my daughter so I went ahead and bought the first incubator I found on eBay however later if found out that i can't turn eggs .. Wonder I will get any egg hatched or just wasting my time . Thanks

Some Chinese made incubator , first time I thought I try a cheap incubator just to see how it goes ..

Mark an X on the shell and turn by hand twice a day. I have a Genesis Hovabator with an egg turner. Best set it and forget it set up I have ever had.

A good incubator that really works is going to cost a little bit of money. I would not trust any of the Chinese ones. If you decide to get another, look for circulated air, digital and turns the eggs too. The Hovabator and Little Giant ones have the egg turner rack as a separate purchase.

You can lay the eggs horizontal instead of in a vertical position. Mark the eggs with an X and O on opposite sides of eachother. Turn them 2 to 3 times a day.
I wouldn't trust the OME thermometer or the hygrometer (humidity sensor). You can get both at Walmart, perform a salt test calibration on the monitor and your good to go....then you'll know the 'true' temp and humidity.
Good luck with your hatch! :jumpy

Can't lay horizontal no room , only vertical and the big side of the egg has to be up so ??? Confused

I have an incubator that turns similar to that one, the eggs sit up rather vertical but it does tilt them.

It worked fine for me last hatch, I was skeptical but it worked!

So I would just pop the eggs in and see what happens, and candle them to make sure they’re developing properly!
