My hand trying to catch them as they get away from me
Cool! Is that the new enclosure? It looks reasonably hawk proof now, or at least it doesn't look easy for a hawk or owl to get in there.
I don't know why people wouldn't be allowed to keep ducks in an enclosure like that in a standard yard. I think cities need to loosen their rules on keeping fowl, especially for a few ducks or chicken hens. I know of dog pens and enclosures that are much larger, are more messy and smell worse than the setup you have there.
Yes, that is their new enclosure.. the top is galvanized steel hardware cloth that has been stapled to the wood that makes the sides.. and then more wood is nailed on top to make it even stronger and to keep us from hurting ourselves on the edges of the hardware cloth.. So, Yup, hawk and owl proof definitely!
I just got home this evening From having spine and hip fusion surgeries and my husband came in saying my Male Turkeys wing may be broke. So i didn't care how much pain i am having . I went and looked. I was devastated he was swallon retaining fluid. I called my local vet and sent photos. I also am Broke. I get that. I still see my cancer drs . And spinal surgies 3 times in last 3 months. Another on the way . But i have carecredit in case of a emergency . And to me this was one. The vet came out tonight made 5 holes to drain fluids. Said watch him with meds for 12 hours . Give him at least 12 hours. Answer will be Put him down. Or have his wing amputated... he is my 7 month old. We think 2 things may of happened. Our rooster beat his rear. Or he got bite by a cooper head. The vet charged me next to nothing . I will go without to make sure my furbabies and feather babies have it all. So pleaae dont take it among yourself see if a vet locally can work with you. A farm vet that is. Praying for your feather baby duck.
