how /when to cut roo spurs

new to chickens ,i have a question about when do you cut/clip a roosters spurs ?
my rooster spur are maybe 2" long and i think he is pulling out the hens back feathers as 1 hen has no feathers left on her back . any help? thanks jim

If they are 2 inches long you can go ahead and trim them. I wonder though, if they are the cause of your hen's barebacks..

I use a dremel tool with the cutting blade. I know if I don't keep my roos spurs trimmed the girls get rougher looking. Check his toenails while you have him up. They may need trimming too.
