How wide do I make a chicken door ?

Done everything a*s backwards , so my question is how wide do I make a chicken door to go in and out of the coop/run

It’s going to be about 12inch off the chicken coop floor (trying to do deep litter method)

I normally do a 1’x1’ door.

Roughly 12" wide is fine (less is fine too, I think mine is 11"?), though if you plan on using an auto door I'd look at the door measurements first so you can size it to match for installation purposes.

In general I make it 10" wide and 11" tall.

The thing you need to consider is if you plan on automating the door. String doors, you can basically make the opening as tall as you have room for the door to clear. I you use the way better option, of a linear actuator, you have to consider the stroke of that actuator plus it's total lengths extended and retracted. And if you are going to mount it top middle or bottom of door. Bottom takes up the least amount of room.

I like doing mine EGG shape.
