How would you recommend I feed my chickens.

I preordered chicks to come in this spring. The thought occured to me I have no idea what to feed them lol, as I have never owned chickens. However I have a feed store near my house. Why not ask the feed store people? Because they are very rude when you ask them questions. They just want you to tell them what you want.

So anyway can someone tell me what type of feed to get. Also how long do I feed them the baby food before switching to the adult food etc. I would love for someone to tell me what they feed there chicks and for how long. And what they feed there laying flock.

I just fed mine the medicated Purina starter/grower until about 17 or 18 weeks when I switched them to Layena. It worked out fine.

I feed mine a chick starter crumble (medicated) until 6 months old. I then switch to a layer pellet. I buy Tractor Supply brand.

We start with Medicated chick starter until 5 mos. then a 50/50 mix of layer and starter till 6 mos. Then switch to layer.
