I gather she isn't what the name implies huh? meaning a show quality bird.

I think you've been sold a bag of goods. You ordered silkies, you did not get silkies. They breeder is definitely at fault. You should have got birds that were at minimum the right breed, at best SQ breed standard birds.

By the way, Jody, the 4 little buff silkies I hatched from you eggs aredoing great, one is sitting with me now. Their BO hatch mates are already almost twice the size. And both the RIR have rooish tendencies.

I agree with mom. I don't know that much about silkies, but I have read several posts and have never heard of the possibility of getting a showgirl from breeding 2 pure SQ silkies. If I'm wrong,someone will say so. Nothing wrong with show girls,but you did not pay for those kind of chickens. I agree that a breeder cannot guarantee SQ chicks,but when you advertize the eggs come from SQ stock, I think the buyer has a reasonable expectation that they will be at least up to breed standards and 4 toes(even with my limited knowledge) is not breed standard for a silkie. If this breeder has any integrity at all, he/she will give you a full refund as well as more eggs along with profuse apologies.
Color and hatching rates may be partially the sellers fault,but with all the variables involved,I would not be too upset about that. Maybe a little disappointed that they did not at least explain why they sent the colors they did,but not the biggest issue by far.

If you got more than one bird with a necked neck, the one of the breeders had necked necks. One would be a huge quick but more than that would be extreamly unlikely. She may have a necked neck around an he got mixed up with her silkies. If it were me, I would be glad to send you more eggs. The question is do you really want more eggs that you can't be sure are what you want. I recently bought buff silkie eggs and on the 8 only 2 developed. Both were Partridge. One is definately more buff and she did offer to send more eggs. I will not take her up on it however because I don't want to spend the time and effort to get something I don't need. The bad part is that I am really in love with the little Partridge baby. It is fantastic with all the lright stuff which makes it so much harder to find a home for it.

I think i'm going to put a for sale sign up at the feed store. I think they are cute but I don't want 7 of what I didn't want in the first place

Im really sorry this happened. It just goes to show buyer beware. Trust me I have learned my lesson and now I ask the breeder tons of questions before I buy their eggs. I always ask to see pic. of there hens and roosters. I had a batch of Silkies that were potentially SQ stock. I cant remember the exact numbers , but quite a few were missing the fifth toe and one even had a single comb. Those are serious faults to come out of birds that are suppose to be Silkies and I will never buy from that breeder again. Sometimes that is all you can do.
