I've been farm raised, learned about chickens on my uncle's knee, and now have started dabbling in fowl breeding myself, only I enjoy Button Quail a little bit more. I do still enjoy chickens, though, and love a beautiful cockrel.
My uncle has Plymouth Rock hens (only a few left), Australorp, and several others I can't think of off the top of my head. Fortunately, this has born in me a love of avians. This has expanded to smaller fowl that are not show casing birds, exactly, but ones that tend to not be eaten unless you visit a place of high repute. I'm hoping that my experience with the even tempered buttons will go a long way with the Game Quail and Bob Whites I hope to have soon. These I would like to raise as food and sale, but that's a long while off right now.
