1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I'm not supper new to chickens. I got my first two ladies Easter of 2019. My niece thought it would be a good idea to get everyone chicks. (She did have someone to take the birds if we didn't want to keep them.) I kept two and started reading everything I could.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

I currently have seven girls. My original two old ladies, a middle aged gal (her partner died), and the four babies.
(3) What breeds do you have?

Easter Eggers, 3 black Australorps and 2 Buff Opringtons
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

My favorite aspects are the companionship of my girls. I love to sit outside with them and just watch. They hang out by the door waiting for treats or come running as soon as you step out. Their antics are so much fun.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

My other hobbies are crochet and needle crafts
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I am a naturalist. I use my girls to promote some of our programs like our AgFest and dinosaur programs. I have one child in college. They are the ones that wanted to birds. And a wonderful husband who puts up with me and my zoo. My other critters include 3 cats that could care less about the birds, 1 dog that tries to play with them and is the same size as the chickens. Four snakes, two tarantulas, and a bearded dragon. The reptiles also get used in my programs for work as well.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

I have watched the form for a while now. Especially when I have questions. I went ahead and signed up since I want to be more involved with other crazy chicken folks.

Welcome to BYC!! Your flock sounds great! I’ve had all of those breeds, and they’re awesome! :)
