Hey everybody!
My name is Wesley. I'm an artist and mom to a 5 year old little boy in Pittsburgh, PA. Though I'm not new to chickens as I grew up with them on the ranch, this IS my first time hatching them from an incubator and it's my first time taking a stab at any kind of urban farming.
I'm hatching Seramas, Silkies, and some mixed Bantam breeds including Polish Crested and duckwing. My plan is the keep all the Seramas and some Silkies and a few of the Bantams and split the rest with my friend and YouTube partner, Caitlin! She's got over 15 years experience working in the zoo industry and she & I will be documenting every step of the incubation and hatching process on our YouTube channel, Operation Incubation
We'll be using some established curriculum and some we've come up with on our to make age-appropriate lessons for ANY child that wants to follow along and learn!
We came up with this project because my son's school was supposed to do a hatching project of their own but since coronavirus cancelled school for the rest of the year, we decided we'd do it at home and share with the class; then we figured we should make these lessons available to ANY person, young or old, who wants to learn about the magical process of hatching chicks

I hope to be an active member of the community; to learn, to meet new friends who love chickens as much as my friend and I do, and to incorporate any knowledge gained into our channel so that we make it a fun, educational place to be
