(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Hi all, first off I want to say howdy. I grew up with chickens. A couple of seasons ago, my wife and I got a few chickens. This year, we purchased a half dozen silkie chicks.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
That puts us at having 7 different breeds of chickens right now.
(3) What breeds do you have?
We have a couple Rhode Island reds, a couple production reds, a couple of Australorps, a silver laced wyandotte, an Easter Egger, a couple of salmon favorelles, and 7 silkies.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I've came across backyardchickens in the past while doing research for a problem my family was having with our chickens. I've been on and off of it over the years as a problem comes up. I finally decided to join because we are wanting to start hatching our own chicks. I've never done that before, so we wanted a great community where we could come to ask any questions, and also where we might be able to share some of our experiences to help out someone else.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I'm big into music. I am a fiddle player, but can do a little bit on a guitar and banjo.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
It's just my wife and I right now(no kids yet. Hopefully in the near future). We have been married for 3 years. We have 2 dogs (a silkie and a scottie), and 3 cats.
