Hi everyone!

I am the proud mama/caretaker of 6 geese that adopted me 2.5 weeks ago. There are the 3 almost 3 year old Toulouse ladies that are sisters - Daffy, Daisy and Rosey that seem to be settling in quite nicely and learning the perimeters of their new home. I have a pond (which they didn't have before) and they are enjoying having a quick bath and swim morning and afternoon. (Right now our pond is thawed due to the the mild Jan. temps, but we also have a "bubbler" that keeps a portion of the pond thawed all winter.) The lady geese have already trained the barn cats to mind their space and this morning marched right up to the #1 horse in my herd of 4 to introduce themselves, lol.

Then there are the three Buff/Sebastopol goslings, which is what got me searching the internet and coming across this wonderful, information filled community! They have taken over what was my "dining room" and are set up next to my work from home desk. (Yes, I have an very understanding husband, who enjoys them completely!) They have already learned their routine - the bigger ones go out in the "play yard" during the day while I'm working, and in their house at night time. The littlest one spends part of my work day on my lap. Every couple days it's a warm evening bath followed by snuggle time on the couch. :) I'm spending a ton of hours cleaning up after them, but definitely will miss having them in the house when they are grown!

Little Miss Princess Bridget is 2.5 weeks old and injured her right pelvis last Friday (as confirmed by vet x-ray yesterday.) She was an absolute joyful treasure, but currently is vehemently protesting her current situation of being confined and hobbled to keep her legs up under her (she was splaying the right one behind her body) and rest so she can (hopefully) heal properly. ** If anyone has experience with giving Boswellia, White Willow Bark, or Tumeric to geese, please let me know! ** She's on Meloxicam currently but I've had great luck with using these products on myself and my horses, and would like to support her continued healing with herbs.

Edward and Isabella are 6 weeks old and their beautiful adult feathers have already started coming in. The pair have already formed a tight bond, and often are sleeping near my chair with their heads tucked around each other. When I let them out of their house into the play yard in the morning they race around like toddlers doing laps, lol!

Prior to the geese, I was trained in the bird ways by Rouen, Pekin and mixed breed ducks as well as Royal Purple guinea fowl. Currently my animal family consists of horses, dogs, and cats (in addition to the geese.) I live on about 13 acres in central IL with my husband and granddaughter. Thanks to everyone for allowing me to join this wonderful community!
