Howdy from Central Texas

Hello, all!

I got my first two chickens about six weeks ago, and every day when I Google a new chicken question, Google sends me to BYC. This must be the place to be, so here I am!

I am a SAHM to two boys, ages 5 and 3, and hubby teaches and coaches high school basketball and football (which means that Monday I became a football widow and will remain a single parent until the end of basketball season!). We've been living frugally and aiming for debt-free simplicity while apartment-dwelling, and purchased our half-acre homestead in May. It's small, but it's a start, and it needs lots of work. The fun part was getting a couple of free chicks off craigslist, complete with their own tractor and supplies, absolutely free!

Now I'm heading over to the breed/sexing forum to find out if anyone has an idea what I've got! Thanks for all the great information!

Welcome! I am new too but this seems to be an absolute wealth of poultry knowledge! Good luck identifying those chicks and soon we know you will accumulate more as they are *addictive* to say the least!
