I just joined here and wanted to say hello to my fellow poultry peeps! About me? I have mixed flock of about 50 chickens. I recently sold my guineas...too noisy and I'm not a morning person! I have your standard red and black sexlinks, australorps, barred rocks, cuckoo Marans, black copper Marans, Rhode island reds, white leggerns, and an Americana rooster that was a gift (because, hey, I need all the rooster I can get to protect my ladies from the constant war between us and the hawks). I mostly allow them to free range, treat them holistically, and thoroughly enjoy the madness that comes with having so many birds!

A must have for your poultry is a FIRST AID KIT for any issues that would arise. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/suggestions-for-a-first-aid-kit.1150128/)
It's definitely better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

Also, make sure your coop(s) have a proper amount of VENTILATION. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...-there-and-cut-more-holes-in-your-coop.47774/) Your chickens will absolutely thank you for it!
