Morning BYC!

I've been reading here for months now and really enjoy the fellowship and learning. You all seem to truly care about one another and your animals.

I brought home 4 hens this April, just a month before the horrific flooding around Nashville. Saved them all, and since have added one. They are more entertaining than any sitcom I've ever seen, and far more family friendly, too! There's not a single purebred among them ~ 2 silkie mixes and 3 large girls. I love to see them bounding across the yard when I call wuuuhoooo!. Learned quickly not to wear sandels around them (toes = worms). Have already had to deal with scaly leg mites, an attack that took half the feathers on Miz Scarlett (she's fully recovered), and a broody that wouldn't give up. Hoping to get a solar heated waterer for Christmas!!!

We also have 3 horses we don't ride (don't ask,

); dogs and cats we've found or rescued and 2 grown children......a son in the Air Force, currently in Afghanistan; and a daughter who skydives out west & lives there too.

I use natural methods/remedies as much as possible and have been able to save most all of them so far. Even the uncooperative hubby

Hope I won't wear out my welcome with all my questions, but there's still so much to learn.

from Leiper's Fork! I bought my first chickens (as an adult anyway) back in April, too! It has been fun learning all I can here on this website. You can type any subject you are curious about in the search box at the top right of the forum screen and it will pull up past discussions. This reduces the number of same questions asked over and over, and you don't have to wait for someone who knows the answer to post it! Anyway...welcome and read, read, read!

Welcome from Ypsilanti, Michigan. How's the weather down there now. Occasionally I can pick up WSM radio & heard last week your weather was similiar to what we had here.

Wow! Thanks everyone! Appreciate the info and the welcome! Sunflower I'm working my way thru those threads you provided....thanks!
