Hello also from Northeast Texas. My husband is retired from the coal mind I was a Respiratory therapist for 26 years not retired yet but gave up my job to stay home with 3 little ones we adopted 7 years ago. They came to live with us 9 years ago in August. They were 5 months 7 years and 10 years when we first got them. The oldest is 18 and she off to college this last year. The Middle is 16 he is a great kid! The youngest is special needs she suffered a brain injury when she was 9 weeks old most of her issues are physical she is just a beautiful girl and so so smart. She will be 9 yo this Friday.
We started a flock back in April it was my birthday present from my husband I had 12 hens lost one the added 3 more. Then hatched 10 in November for my niece. I still have them as she couldn't have them as babies with her Dog. Now we are waiting to get them used to the outside weather before she takes them. There are 4 cockerels possible 5 she needs to find homes for if you are interested. I also have 4 babies that are 2 weeks old I hatched from an online order they are Ayam Camani and have 11 more of them in the incubator due to hatch in about 12 days.
We live in town in a very nice house that we are also remodeling as we can get to things. It is a 1/3 acre lot. So I have to be careful not to have too many chickens. We have 2 coops and runs and a grow out coop in our laundry room. Oh I also have a mini coop in the big run it is the red one. I use it for introducing newbies to the flock or to put bad girls in time out.
I have golden sexlinks, Barred Rocks, Easter eggers, Ameraucana, True Green Whiting, Blue Splash Marans and Ayam Camani. Adding a roo soon he is half Barred rock and half Cochin.
I enjoy sewing and gardening.
I love to just hang out with my flock and watch how silly they can be at times. I really love it when one of them gets a bug and the others chase her for it.
