Hello! Just thought I'd take the advice from the new sign-up info I just recieved, say "Hello" and introduce myself.
My husband and I have two kids (ages 3 & 7) and we live on some acreage with 6 horses and 2 dogs about 50 miles north of the DFW metroplex.
We just got our first 7 chicks about a month ago. We gave three to my husband's parents who were so excited to have them, but sadly two became dinner for a reptile last week (still not entirely sure how he got in their cage). The lone survivor of the snake attack was traumatized and in need of some friends so now she's back with ours.
I have no idea what kind of chickens they are - they actually came from chick days at Tractor Supply, but almost all the yellow baby-chickness has been replaced by all white feathers.
This site has been amazing - especially for the coop design ideas. We "borrowed" an idea from one of the members here and we LOVE our coop. And so do our little feathered friends. Looking forward to learning more from all of you!
