(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I grew raised chickens about 25 years ago, then moved to the city (Dallas) I moved back to Southeast Texas and decided to have chickens again, but a big black lab got in and killed them all. That was 9 years ago. I am going to try it again, but my chicken coop will have to be dog proof
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I am picking them up tomorrow, not sure, but I am only going to get about 10 chickens
(3) What breeds do you have?
I will be getting cornish and road Island reds for sure, my wife likes the green eggs, so we may get aracanas (SP?)
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I just followed a bunch of links and clicked a lot read a bunch and next thing you know.... I was here!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening, fishing, but my big hobby is brewing beer and making wine, cider and mead!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I love my wife, two daughter and two grand-monsters. I have a little rat terrier mutt that was just diagnosed with heart worns, stage 4, stage 5 is death. I am goung to spend the money try to save him, even though I can't afford the $461 total projected bill. His name is "Wee Dog"
I am getting back into chickens, rabbits, gardening, fishing and trapping wild ferrel hogs to provide for my family, if things get as bad as some say.
My philosophy is prepare for the worse and pray for the best!
