Greetings. My brother and sis-in-law, who had raised chickens a couple years ago (until a recent move...and then they plan on raising them again soon) have put a bug in my ear and now my wife and I want to start. We've been buying farm-fresh, free-range chicken eggs (or getting them free for some folk) for several years now and recently the lady we were buying from has sold her entire flock so she can "retire".

So, I'm here to learn as much as possible before I get started.

! Great to have you in our community! I think you will enjoy the chicken raising lifestyle. Once they are established they are really very little work. Best of luck to you!

Have a look at the Learning Center here for advice on how to get started, how to take care of your chickens etc. In the different sections you will see "sticky threads" (in blue) on top of each section that has some very good and important info on each topic such as how to hatch eggs, vaccinations for chickens etc and in the Frequently Asked Questions section, if you scroll past the site related Q's you'll find some more chicken Q's answered. Have fun!
