Hello all. My family and I live on seven acres and at this time we have a rooster named Peaches (my daughter named him when we thought he was a hen) and three hens named Vanilla Bean, Toffee and Ginger. We harvest the eggs and Peaches has become a vicious flock guard. Since we were an uneducated gift recipient of 18 chicks, it's been a tough first year in which we lost fourteen chickens to predators and disease, but we have learned a lot about the health of our flock and predator elimination. Heavy on the predator elimination! We have an order placed for fifteen chicks that will be filled the first week of April. We are ready for our new family members, I mean flock members, and we can't wait to get started.

Glad you joined us!

Seat-of-the-pants learning is always tough. I shudder when I think about some of the ways I have lost chickens over the years.

You are in a great place now to learn from others' mistakes, and any other kind of learning about poultry, too. Best of luck with all those little fuzzy things when they come!

Hi :welcome
