We just moved to this place a couple of years ago and last year we got 4 young chickens to raise for eggs. Unfortunately 3 of the four turned out to be roos.

We have the one Ameraucauna hen from last year and 9 babies this spring. I think 5 are roos and I guess we'll have to find them somewhere else to live or put them in the freezer. (Hard to do either way)

We have 9 Ameraucaunas and 1 Rhode Island White (a roo).
I found Backyard Chickens on Facebook when I had a question about crazy chick behavior. When they were a week old or so, they would have what I call a "nap attack". Just fall down full length on the shavings and lay there not moving...asleep. Feet straight out behind them and looking like cartoon chicks. Very funny!
I like to draw and paint even though I haven't done much lately. I am making plans for another coop (bigger) and more chickens, some guineas and turkeys, and I have definitely been bitten by the Poultry Bug! I don't know of any cure except to get more . . . They are really addictive.

My husband and I have 4 dogs, Min Pins that we have rescued . Two black and tan neutered males that we got 10 years ago, JR and Abee, and two red ones found a year apart here in Oklahoma. A little girl that was giving an elderly lady fits,Kricket, and a boy who was abused and sickly, Pawco. We also adopted an orange tabby that announced himself while we were shopping in PetSmart. An adoption clinic was in the store and he was sleeping in a cage until I walked by. He sat up and started talking. They called him General Mao and we do too. Mao for short, still talking and our resident house-guard cat. He is large and in charge. I will put a picture of him in here one day. We had horses 20 years ago and I hope to have more one of these days.

Welcome- I'm near Catoosa myself. Find the "Okies in the BYC" thread, it really moves fast if you want to connect with other people in the area! Last month we went to the "Chicken Stock" in Muskogee, there is a big one coming up in Stillwell in October, etc. Make yourself at home!
