I too just joined!
I saw the watering nipples and tried an old dog kennel waterer with the brackets, and it worked! They learn pretty quickly to adapt in finding water!! It also keeps the water clean.

Yeah, it's pretty amazing isn't it? I was skeptical about how they would know that was their new water source, but they're resourceful! Last night, one of the girls had figured out she could open her beak wide, placing it on both sides of the pin and shaking her head rapidly back and forth to keep the water flowing. Hilarious!

The dog kennel waterer is a good idea -- I just had an old bucket, so I used that as the reservoir to feed the pipes w/ the peckers. Sheesh...peckers, nipples...who names these things?!
