Hi- I'm seriously toying with the idea of having some chickens. I just read an amazing book called Chicken Gardening which inspired me. It's about raising happy chickens by having them work with you to keep the bugs under control. I actually don't eat chickens, but I do eat eggs- so I think we are going to get along just fine. I'm at the stage where I'm trying to find a suitable location for the coop, plus put together a shangri-la kind of house for them.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! X3 on be sure to check out the Learning Center liz9910 linked for you. If you can post pictures or make up a plat of your land or where ever you are thinking of putting the coop you could start a thread in the Coop/Run design forum for input or suggestions www.backyardchickens.com/f/9/coop-amp-run-design-construction-amp-maintenance and don't forget to check out the Coops forum for ideas, you might also look at tractors, they are pretty popular for people who use chickens in gardens https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/2/Coops And it is always fun to check out your state thread for chicken keeping neighbors https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/12049/ohio-come-on-buckeyes-let-me-know-your-out-there
