How are your Rotts doing around the chickens?
Every one of my Dobies have had very high prey drive. None would have been trusted around chickens. The poultry netting does amazing things to make a dog like that ignore chickens with just one lesson! They are not doing anything around the chickens! Both my kids are super high-drive and I just know what will happen (my 6 yo was so excited that he was vibrating in anticipation, and my girl has less impulse control so she was just trying all she could to get to them). No amount of "slow, steady. repeated introductions" are gonna work with these 2 (which does suck a bit) !!

I don't have dobermans but my 2 huskies cant stop licking their lips and it doesnt help that I've fed them duck heads in the past. They are not doing anything around the chickens! Both my kids are super high-drive and I just know what will happen (my 6 yo was so excited that he was vibrating in anticipation, and my girl has less impulse control so she was just trying all she could to get to them). Those drives!
Dobermans are my moms favorite dig breed but she's never had the chance to own one... after reading what you have to say, i think she would have loved a doberman! Maybe one of these days I'll gift one to her hahaha she would hate me.
Do you have any pics?
