(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Spent quite a bit of time around chickens as a youngster.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I do not currently have any chickens, but am researching which kind I might want. I'm really leaning toward the blue laced red Wyandottes, Marans, and the Ameraucana. I can't have any chickens here where I live now, but next year we'll be in a position to move forward.
(3) What breeds do you have?
n/a
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
search through google for some info on incubators
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I collect hobbies.
Soapmaking, chandler, herbalist, pysanky, gardening, roses, bookbinding, woodworking, reading, drawing, a bit of computer gaming, animals of all sorts, and on and on and on.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Hubby Shawn and I live in north central WV. I'm a retired trucker, and a military veteran. Other animals you might catch a glimpse of around here are rabbits, parrots, a large sweetheart ragdoll, a tortoise, and my ball python collection (hobby breeder).
I'm thrilled to have found such a valuable resource, and especially as I am doing a lot of reading regarding chickens and their care. We are getting ready to move from WV to Montana for hubby's job, and I will finally be able to have the homestead I have been wanting since the summers spent on my grandparent's farm as a kid. I've always adored Montana, and am ready for the change of pace. I've been away from my roots with the military and then always moving in the big truck, then for the last several years I've been living in the city. I look forward to slowing down and reforging a bond with the natural cycle of things.
Wonderful to meet you all. I look forward to learning a lot.
