Howdy! It’s been an exciting first day.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.

What gauge and spacing wire is that? I have 1/2" 19awg wire and have seen attempts at chewing through but no real damage.
It’s 1/4”, 23 gauge. I’m considering an overlay similar to what you have or a hot wire. People abandon their dogs out where we live. In addition to our three, we have a Blue Lacy/Lab mix that showed up starving about a year ago. It’s possible this coop is going to get a lot of pressure. That being the case, do you think the thicker wire would hold?

P.S. The Lacy is either indoors with us or supervised outside. It wasn’t her! If you know Lacys, you understand the need to explain! 😉

Welcome to BYC.
One of my dogs, a boxer, chewed a small hole in my 19ga hardware cloth once but I've never had anything else get through. One of my smaller runs is a little further from the house. Its a 10 x10 chainlink kennel covered top to bottom with hardware cloth and the door is framed to keep anything from squeezing through. I like the double protection.
It’s funny. I thought I was being kind of a nut going over the coop before they got here and trying to reinforce even the smallest gap. Crazy that it almost wasn’t enough! I like the idea of your double barrier!
