I've received two orders from MPC this year (first time chicken owner). The first ones hatched April 30 and I received them the next morning (from Ohio to Rhode Island). All five arrived active and healthy. One of them was an "Assorted Brown Egg-layer," which ended up being a Red Star (also called Golden Buff, I think, on their website). Two of my white leghorns from that batch ended up dying about 4 days after I received them, but I think I let it get too hot in their brooder (unfortunately). My survivors from that batch (including the Red Star) are now 11 weeks old and doing great. My Red Star seems to have a good personality - likes to sit next to me, and doesn't freak out if I approach her.
My second batch was hatched June 11, and again, I received the chicks the next morning. This time I got 10, including another Red Star. These chicks are now 5 weeks old and also doing great. I haven't integrated the two groups yet - probably not until the end of August.
The one mistake that MPC did make (with the first order) is that I ordered a white cochin (female) and I got a partridge cochin. They offered me a choice of a refund or a free chicken (same value) in my second order. I took the free chicken offer. This partridge cochin, BTW, is more than likely, a rooster. The only thing he hasn't done yet, is crow. I will be rehoming him when that happens. I keep thinking there's someone out there who has the white female cochin that I was supposed to get - lol!
Anyway, even with the cochin error, I am pleased with the service I've received from MPC, and would order from them again.
I was going to attach a picture of my Red Star, but for some reason, I don't see the option to attach a picture. If I can figure it out, I'll add another post.
