I am a nurse and I am telling you right NOW call an ambulance and have them take you to the hospital that is 75 miles away!!!!!!! There is something VERY wrong with your husband and low oxygen level have all kinds of negative inpacts on the body including clots that can go to lung and brain, heart attacks (from having to pump faster to attempt to circulate what oxygenated blood there is) or permanent brain damage. I don't mean to scare you, but time is of the essence!!! You need to get him seen IMMEDIATELY!!! If you show up at the ER, they HAVE to see you and if they won't treat him, then use the word "SUE" about 27 times in 5 sentences in a very loud voice so that every other family member and patient in the entire department hears you. You will have plenty of witnesses!! Believe me, they will have a whole new attitude very quickly.

Beleive me... I was a cancer patient and have had MANY other health issues and sometimes, you are the only one who is sticking up for you!!! And as a nurse I have seen fires lit under lazy burnt out doctors butts by family members who meant business. Your husbands life depends on this!!

Please do this RIGHT NOW..... don't let another minute go by... NOT ONE!!!!

Well we are still at home. I have managed to stay awake and watched him like a hawk. His O2 has remained at 84 despite him being on his oxygen all night. I have also put to use my BP kit that I havent used since I quit nursing after I had our youngest son. It has been showing his BP is also on the low side. I havent threatend anyones lives though I have been seeing red all night. I dont know if it is our State laws or just this hospitals rules, but on admission intothe ER they had him sign a contract basically stating that he knew that the ER wasnt a replacment for his personal doctor, and that if he wasnt 3/4 of the way dead, or they couldnt conclusively find what the probkem was they arent accountable for anything. And that with out his doctors concent, or directive they werent going to get into extensive tests to find out what was wrong either. I will have to get it out after while and post what it exactly says. But for one reason or another they have pushed this off as a chronic problem, even though this has happend with in the last two days. Our doctor is out of town (of coarse), other wise I would have went to her instead of the ER. So making a long story short they didnt Immediatly see what was the problem, but since they did have our doctors orders they didnt look further into it. They also refused to give him a portable oxygen tank, and the ambulance wont take him to a hospital out of county with out the direct orders of our pyshician. So we are officially stuck right now. I knew right off the bat that they woulod refuse to transfer him to a different hospital. And in dealing with them through work, and personally I knew that they were going to refuse to run every test they could with out our Doctors orders. But I never thought they would just kick him out in the shape. I have also been debating if we could make it to the Grand Junction Hospital with out him totally crashing before we got there with out the portable tank. I am certian we cant do that, it has snowed all night long, and we have several inches of new snow on the ground.Nit that it bothers me, but I am doubting that traffic will move fast enough to get him there with out making things worse. He doesnt have strep, he was tested for it a few days after I was treated for it and he was clear. However he does have a lot of heart problems in his family He had a Aunt that died the end of this last summer because her heart hardend and then failed. That is one of my biggest worries. But I am 95% sure he has a blood clot some where in his lungs that wasnt caught in the five minute cat scan they did last night. Right now I am thinking I am going to have to pray that whatever doctor is on call today for ours is going to be someone who is either in the same office so they have his chart ready, or one that doesnt have the God complex going that the doctors we had to deal with last night did. I really wished there was a fast way to get him to another hospital last night, but he is just to weak and I was afraid of trying to take him out in the blizzard with out any oxygen to keep him half way stable the whole trip. Now that it is morning I can call around and hopefully find a doctor with a brain, and get him some help out side the darn hospital ER. If I took him back there I would only be further stressing him. And knowing our luck he would end up like that one lady here a few months ago that died in the ER waiting room. She sat out there coughing up blood and they resfused to let her get in. Her family kept trying to get her help by calling 911. And they told the family that since they were already in the hospital it wasnt a emergency. I cant remember were that was at but I am sure some of yall remember it.Anyone thanks for your suggestions, and hopefully I can post you guys with some good news today.

If you can't get him a doctor locally that will take good care of him, go to your medical supply store and see if you can get a tank of oxygen and make the trip if you think he can handle it. I know three people on oxygen and they we given an oxygen tank with the oxygen machine-maybe yours was overlooked?

Good luck and remember to take care of yourself too. You won't do him any good if your to run down.

Your doctor must have an on call doctor though, doesn't he??? And maybe the medical supply company that got you the o2 has a poratble tank you can rent??? Somehow, someway... he has got to be seen today.. sorry for sounding presumptuous, I didn't know you were a nurse too. Maybe the anwering service for the doctor can track him down if they know it is an emergency.... Keep trying!!!

ok, if you are reading this, call 911 and tell them his oxygen level keeps dropping. Lie, but do something now! Call his DR someone has to be on call, make them listen. I would call 911, at least they can get him somewhere faster then you. They have to see him. By now there should be someone new on staff that wasn't there last night.
Please call,
Brenda

jeaucamom beat me to it. I was wondering the same. Doesn't your doctor have someone seeing to her patients while she's away? Or perhaps a contact number?

Alright we are outta here!!!Wish us luck, I am going to bring the lap top we are headed for

When we were dealing with my FIL the doctors were going to release him and we told them that he had no place to go. They had to admit him until they found him someplace to go to (in his case a nursing home where he belonged). It might be an extreme move for you to do but, if it gets your DH the help he needs it might be worth it. I would make sure he know what it is your doing before you do it though.

GOOD LUCK and MAY THE LORD BE WITH YOU!!!

Someone's praying, Lord, Kum ba yah. (come by here)
