This weather is brutal. I don't know what else to do for mine either. I'm seriously thinking about buying a box fan and running an extension cord out to the run.

So sorry about your chick. I would not know what else to do in this heat either, just plenty of shade, and blocks of ice in their water. Box fan may be a good idea too Lisa. We don't have AC in our house but I have 3 of those high velocity fans running all the time,I got them at Sam's club. Baxter my dog even has his own personal fan wherever he is lying :) I hope everyone's birds stay healthy, and hope this heat breaks sooner than predicted!

I was a little worried about the heat yesterday too. The chickens were panting; I ended up letting them out and they just took shady dust baths and cooled right off. They did a lot of drinking from random dog bowls and the pool foot bath.

I have been freezing water bottles and putting them in all the waters, and switching them out durring the day. I have to alternate who is aloud to free roam, the wyandottes came out pretty early yesturday and today the hamburgs and muscovys get to free roam.
I live in an old mobile home...I have 2 AC's running 24/7 and it still gets up to 94 in here..its horrible. I also have a large box type fan for my dogs, it helps alot.

Earlier in this forum there was a question about a processor available in the Hudson Valley. A guy named Jim Nicols (Carlisle, NY) is really good. He came here yesterday, quick, clean, professional. Make sure you have an itemized bill especially if you go for the mobile services. There was an extra charge...which I thought was fair...for traveling over 75 miles. He also has a shop where he can process commercial birds.

That's good to know. Thank you! I'm all about giving a job like this to somebody else!

I've had enough of this Hazy Hot & Humid CRAP. Somebody slap me when I complain about the cold weather please?
