Little blinking white christmas lights? Michael's usually has great ideas.
Ooo! I like that idea! I was just in Michael's getting paint for the "This Way~ That Way ~ Wrong Way" sign my DH built. Every little thing I saw had Alice in Wonderland possibilities but I never thought of lights. Can you believe the Halloween stuff is out already...ugh. So much inspiration. I'll raid my Christmas boxes for the white lights. And how's this for OUT OF CONTROL? I'm actually thinking about starting a search for an old crystal chandelier to hang in the tent but I think that'll be expensive and we're kinda running out of time.

I really have to stop thinking lol

How are your chickens doing? I have a few laying but not everyone caught on yet.

One of the HV Chicken Pimps from Craigslist called us back late this afternoon. We met him in Chester. We got 4 Buff Orpingtons and 2 Easter Eggers. I think they're 9 weeks old. $7/each. They're downright petrified and very stinkin' cute!

Chicken Louie's phone # is 845-888-0274. He's a little 'interesting' but the chicks seem very healthy~no mites and their poop looks good

He also has show rabbits and meat rabbits for sale.

Chickens are doing well. Thanks for asking. Still have to integrate the two babies in with their older siblings. Tomorrow their outside time pen gets moved next to the big chickens. The two little ones have gotten so much more attention. They will hop onto your hand when you put it down to move them. One flew out of the outside pen towards me and the dog walking up the driveway. Freaked everyone out. All is well. Love the chandelier idea. No idea where you would get one.

I'm glad all is well! We introduced our 2 big Orpingtons to the new babies after we brought them home last night and our roo was very aggressive. For now the big ones are back in the other coop. I hope they'll all get along eventually. This integration thing intimidates me. I feel like I'm in WAY over my head. How did your big chickens react to the babies? Is it possible they'll all be 'friends' eventually?

I actually found a chandelier at the Wappingers Falls Goodwill today but it was $50 and I just can't justify that! I also found a wedding gown. I thought it would look cute hanging on the outside of the run but it was $50 also. I really have to stop brainstorming and keep it simple. But I can't stop picturing the chicken coops decorated also!

When we integrated I used a small wire dog crate in the coop. I put all the babies in there for about a week at night everything went very smoothly. I used a piazza box on top to keep the roosting birds from pooping on my babies though.

was at a wedding last year where they took tree branches(longer ones) and some young tall tree saplings (6 to 8 footers) and decorated them with white lites, they also did some sort of branch chandelier by just taking the branches and hooking them together and then loading them with white xmas lites --it ended up being prob 3 1/2 foot in diameter--it looked cool with the branches pointing out and covered with lites. (the wedding was in a barn, very sheik)

I LOVE the branch chandelier idea! And we won't need a degree in engineering to make it

We have woods in the back of our house; I'll ask my husband to gather some branches. Thank you! We're trying to make the décor pretty AND cheap!

And WELCOME houseofknauss~ How many chickens do you have? Where in upstate NY are you?

Question, I'm heading to stony point next week and would like to know where up there I can check out some pullets?
Hey brooklyndiane~

We just bought 6 9-week old chicks from a guy in Wurtsboro which is not very close to Stony Point at all but if nothing else, you can keep his # for future reference...
Would you like his phone #?

In cooperstown ny-- 12 adult chickens -9 babies at 2 weeks old and 9 ducks(with one sitting right now)--been doing chickens for 2 years and ducks for 7. the babies are like Christmas, don't know what their colors are going to be since I have a mixed crew to begin with!--so I am relatively new to chickens. I have a good source for chicken questions locally thank god. this guy knows everything including the inside of the chicken. he enjoys trying to have someone stump him.(only happened once that I know off)

chandelier--you should be able to find some good branches that have nice spread on them--get them screwed together with a larger piece(for a base) off a tree and hang it with some decorative chain that you can find at your local hardware store.
good luck and thanks for the welcome!!
