Sorry for being 4 days late in my reply!
Dads back home..and doing well! Congrats on your daughter getting married!!! I hope it all went smoothly!
Please post pics of the new pup!! I love rotties!!
No baby ducks yet...but def. In the next couple of days..they are alittle late hatching but I hear some peeping in the incubator! I had to toss 6 eggs the other day..they died before pipping but I blame myself for that ..thos is my first time trying duck eggs and I forgot to mist them and up the humidity. Mama duck is still sitting on 5 eggs..but I relized the other day when she came out to eat that she isnt walking on her one leg. Idk what happend sense she has been just sitting on eggs.
My Silkie hen is broody again, so I put some wyandotte eggs under her..hope its not to cold for her to hatch them.

how do the chicks survive the winter when hatched when its so darn cold out??? there are days when it is soo cold here that it is below zero ALOT!!

Hi all, been awhile just wanted to drop in and say howdy. I am working crazy hours but still loving the little time I have with the chickens. 24 right now. I still have that EE roo (he isn't crowing) and I have the shed coop pretty much done with the new little bitties in there. Everyone is living outside and happy. My garden girls are showing their age and don't really give any eggs anymore.

Best wishes for a nice finish to fall and a safe halloween.
We plan to head up to the wine wreath festival for thanksgiving weekend. Anyone doing anything special?

Hi Diane
This will be my first winter too. We're going to buy a heater for the waterer to keep it from freezing. But I'm pretty sure a lot of people here in BYC will have some alternative and very creative ideas. The biggest obstacle is running electricity out there. Good luck!
